Do I need any special hardware to use Stempel?
No. Stempel works with any device that has a camera — a smartphone, tablet, or laptop webcam is all you need. There is no proprietary hardware to buy or install.
How accurate is the AI data extraction?
Our AI achieves 99.9% accuracy on machine-readable passport zones (MRZ), which are the two lines of text at the bottom of every passport. Even worn, faded, or older passports are handled reliably.
Is guest data secure and GDPR compliant?
Yes. All passport data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Data is stored in the EU, users can delete records at any time, and Stempel is fully GDPR compliant. We never share or sell guest data.
Which passports and ID types are supported?
Stempel supports all ICAO-compliant passports — that covers 193 countries. It also works with most EU national ID cards. If the document has a machine-readable zone, Stempel can read it.
What happens when my 7-day free trial ends?
You will be prompted to add a payment method and subscribe for $29/month. Until you do, access to scanning will be paused — but your existing records are always safe and accessible.
Can multiple staff members share one account?
Currently, each account is for a single hostel. Multiple staff can use the same login on different devices simultaneously. Multi-user team accounts with individual logins are on the roadmap for a future update.
